Painting Lapse.

I came across this photo a friend of mine took when I was in college. I thought “what happened to her?” lol! And comparatively I didn’t express all that I wanted to even then artistically. I worked and went to school like so many other people. Whether you’re an artist in any form or not we all have our gifts, purposes here, and the journeys where every road has led to the same path. We are always exactly where we are supposed to be even though we don’t know it. I’m grateful I have lived in a part of the world where I have had the opportunity to explore. I chose to study art in college, I switched my major multiple times lol. And at the end of the day, a boss gave me the advice of, “if you do what you love the money will come.” So I did.

I know this is not unfamiliar to other artists. How we compare our artistic creations and capabilities to other artists, should we even continue to put it out there or keep our creations for the pure sake of creating? There are lapses in all of our lives when “creating” is creating your life. Moving, buying a home, maybe get married and having children, jobs in various disciplines, etc. There are times when I stopped painting but I haven’t stopped creating, sketching, etc. I’ve been inspired in travel, experiences in different types of art, business, learning, inspiration, and growth has come together in making Denver my home base. I’ve been led back to painting as a focus. A paint brush, paint marker, tools of all sorts feel very natural in my hands. Now I have more skills to balance it all.
